  • This weekend, November 13, is Empire Day in the United Kingdom, featuring a large number of Star Wars guests and movie props.
  • On November 19-20, Super Mega Fest in Framingham, MA will host Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and the Fighting 501st.
  • Also on November 18-20, Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett), Ray Park (Darth Maul), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa) will be guests at the Big Apple Convention National Expo in New York City.

Yesterday, August 9, 2005, at 5:20 PM EST, Katie Johnson, daughter of 501st founder Albin Johnson, finished her battle with cancer. She will forever be a Star Wars Chick and a real star.

Kisses for Katie

Katie is a sweet little 6 year old Star Wars Chick from Columbia, SC who is suffering from a glioma brain tumor. Unfortunately, her condition has been steadily getting worse. The Make-a-Wish Foundation recently sent Katie and her family to Disney World for 6 days. Her father, Albin (founder of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion), has posted a new update and photos regarding Katie's condition and their Make-a-Wish trip.

Dragon*Con 2005

Crysta, JediGirl, and Julie will all be in attendance at Dragon*Con this year in Atlanta, GA over Labor Day weekend (September 2-5, 2005). America's largest, multi-media, popular arts convention focuses on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film.

Confirmed Star Wars guests for 2005 include: Aaron Allston (author), Kevin J. Anderson (author), Daniel Logan (Young Boba Fett), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Rebecca Moesta (author), Rena Owen, Mary Oyaya (Luminara Unduli), Ray Park (Darth Maul), Steve Sansweet, and Michael Stackpole (author).

Also, photos from Dragon*Con 2004 have finally been posted.  Please check them out, and if you are featured in any of the pictures, email Crysta and ask her to credit you in the photo's caption.

The 2005 Women of Vision Awards Gala

Women in Film & Video of Washington, DC are hosting their 2005 Women of Vision Awards Gala this Friday, May 13, and Carrie Fisher is their honoree. Tickets are still available for the event, which will take place at The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. The reception and silent auction begin at 6 pm, followed by the main program at 7:45. Tickets are $170 for WIFV members, $200 for nonmembers, and $300 VIP. New FLIcK magazine premiers with Star Wars

The first issue of FLIcK magazine — a free magazine to be distributed at the movie theater box office nationwide — will launch with Star Wars Episode III. Return of the Sith Soundtrack Review

On Monday, May 2, 2005, Sony Classical will release the original motion picture soundtrack of the last episode of the massively popular Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. The CD will also include an exclusive collector's DVD - Star Wars: A Musical Journey. StarWarsChicks.com has been given an official preview, and Ash Darklighter has the review.

Episode III Charity Premiers

Ladies Charity Spa & Shopping Day (D.C. area)

WAHMfest.org has organized a Charity Spa & Shopping Day for Saturday, May 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton in Reston, VA.  Star Wars Chicks will be a participating charity, with 100% of the $15 ticket price going to the Fight for the Cure campaign.  Tickets are available online, and everyone who purchases a ticket before April 29 will receive a special goody bag and coupons at the door. 

Star Wars Chicks does not have any Council members in the D.C. area - if a local Star Wars Chick is interested in selling tickets locally and/or helping with the event, please contact Crysta.  An Event Flyer PDF is also available.

ConCarolinas 2005

Guests at ConCarolinas 2005 (June 3 - 5) include author Greg Keyes, Nathan Butler (Star Wars Tales), Star Wars Fanworks, David Franklin (Farscape), Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead), and author John Ringo.  The convention will be supporting the American Cancer Society, and $1 from every membership will go to Kisses for Katie.

LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game

The LEGO Star Wars video game (for PC, PS2, X-Box, and GBA) hit shelves on Saturday, April 2nd.  Crysta had the opportunity to play a demo version of the game and was tickled pink by it.  If you like LEGOs, you'll adore the game.  Visit the Official site for more information or to download a demo of the game.  The graphics are wonderful, but come at a high cost - you will need a video card that supports pixel shading in order to play the game on your PC. 

Fight for the Cure!

The final numbers are in! On February 1, 2005, Crysta mailed a check for $8,418.43 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Thanks to all of you who helped support our campaign and are wearing the Star Wars Chick Lapel Pin with pride! At this time we do not have any additional items for sale, but we hope to continue the Fight for the Cure campaign again soon!

Katie is a sweet little 6 year old Star Wars Chick from Columbia, SC who is suffering from a glioma brain tumor. This tumor is located in the pons of her brain stem, making it virtually unreachable surgically. The members of the Star Wars community have banded together to help support Katie and her family (her father, Albin, is the founder of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion).
