Description:
Keer is tall, solidly built and imposingly dignified. He can manage
to look quite stern, however with a smile his face turns to warm friendliness.
He has salt and pepper gray hair cut to medium short length and swept back
from his forehead. He has a hawk-like face with piercing dark chocolate
brown eyes, a largish aquiline nose, and a firm set mouth. His skin
tone is a deep bronze and his face is lined, making him look about 10 years
older than he actually is, and as if he has seen a lot of action and been
out in the harsh elements for long periods of time (He has a Native American
Indian look about him). He wears traditional Jedi garb: trousers and tunic
of a course natural colored fabric and a brown cloak, tall boots and a
belt to hold his blue-bladed saber. Keer has a tattoo on the back
of his neck that resembles a design somewhat like a Celtic knot.
It is a token of his younger days. He also has a jagged scar along
the line of his right jaw, the remnants of a thermal detonator blast.
Background: Keer
was born on Yavin IV to non-Force sensitive parents. He has long
suspected that his Force abilities are an inheritance from his grandfather
who was rumored to have been a Jedi knight of the Old republic, however
the truth will never be known because he was killed in the Jedi purges
and his records erased from existence. Keer's mother was a midwife/healer
and his father a shop owner in their small town in the midst of the jungle.
Keer grew up leading an uneventful childhood, however he was closely guarded
by his parents who knew that his Force-sensitivity would prove dangerous
under the rulership of the Empire. Using various philosophies and
teachings (found by doing some illicit research) Keer's father helped him
to learn to control and suppress his abilities. Thus, Keer lived
with the Force as a constant but inactive part of his life. When
the Rebellion rose, with a base on Yavin, Keer was in his teens and became
a supporter of their cause. He helped in minor ways, but tried to
not become too prominent in order to avoid identification by the Empire.
He mostly contributed to strategy and planning, as he has always been possessed
of a shrewd strategic mind. From afar, he admired Luke Skywalker,
who he felt a certain kinship with through the Force, but never contacted
him until after the Endor victory. Then, with the Empire at an all-time
low, Keer felt it safe to come forward with his Force abilities. When Luke
established the Jedi Academy, he invited Keer to join him and Keer learned
to use his abilities, as he never had before. He was a quick study and
his strength in the Force soon reached its true heights. He was able
to act as a mentor to younger Force-sensitives and did a great deal to
help reestablish the Jedi Order. He was married at the age of 28 to a woman
he met at the Academy. Her name is Ellena, and she is a Jedi healer
in the Temple. At 30, he was made a master and has thus far trained
three apprentices and had many adventures. His last apprentice, who
was still in the early stages of training, was recently killed on a mission
and Keer has returned to the Jedi Temple on Yavin to figure out what is
next for him.
Personality:
Keer is a deeply philosophical man. He is usually serious and comes
across as stern, however he has a subtle dry wit and cares deeply about
what he does and the people he works with. He is devoted to the Jedi
and the Force. He has a kind and fatherly nature that is revealed
once his outward shell is stripped away. He is clever and brave and has
an uncanny calm in the face of danger or difficulty. He is often
carefully methodical when planning, and his plans are usually flawless.
He is devoted to his wife and the young Jedi he trains, and this proves
to provide them with superb training. Now, with the death of his
last padawan however, he has become more withdrawn and grief-stricken.
Though he tries not to show it, his pain is plainly evident in his sense
in the Force. He is unused to failure and feels this is a major personal
defeat.
Objectives: To
try to move beyond this set back and accept his padawan's death.
He needs to search to Force and figure out if another padawan is what he
needs or if he should retire teaching and go back to being a lone knight
Misc: Both
Keer's mother and wife were healers. Though one uses the Force and the
other did not, Keer has learned an awful lot about the arts of healing.
He is quite perceptive of pain in others and has a talent for fixing it,
though tougher cases he brings home to his wife. He and Ellena have a close
loving relationship, though Keer is often away from the Temple. Ironically,
since she is a healer, Ellena was irreversibly crippled in an early mission
and forever lost the ability to have children. Keer's apprentices
often fill that gap however and she takes great pride in teaching them
healing arts. She gets around on a small anti-grav chair and is always
possessed of a large smile and a positive attitude. She has long
auburn hair and hazel eyes and wears long diaphanous gowns.
