Description:
Calliope is slight and small for her age. She is otherwise quite
unremarkable as well. She has long, straight blonde hair and pale
blue eyes. Her skin tone is pale. She has thin lips and ears
that stick out a little, but an otherwise honest and innocent face.
She would look at home among the clouds of Bespin, but anywhere else she
would be described as waif-ish. As a Jedi apprentice, she wears the
traditional natural colored trousers and tunic, as well as a dark brown
hooded cloak and tall boots. She wears her hair in a long braid that
is often coming loose.
Background: Calliope
was brought to the Jedi Temple in a fairly unremarkable way. Discovered
as a Force-sensitive by a visiting Jedi to Bespin, she was taken to Yavin
at the age of 7. Her parents, lower class gas miners, were sad to
let her go of course, but with one less mouth to feed it helped relieve
the economic burden created by Calliope's 8 other brothers and sisters.
She does not communicate with them much, besides a letter every once in
a while. At the temple, she followed the usual Jedi training and
was an average student, usually unnoticed and un-praised by the masters.
When she reached the age when apprentices are normally assigned to masters,
Calliope was not picked by any master to become a Padawan - not because
she was bad, but simply because no one noticed her enough to see her promise.
Thus, she was a wash out of the training program. She dropped out
of training entirely, but stayed on at the Temple and worked as an attendant,
trying to earn money to help her family back on Bespin. She hoped
to help them, but not to return to her home. Feeling she could fare
better on her own, she planned to earn enough to buy her way off Yavin,
where she then hoped to settle somewhere, be prosperous and support
her family from afar. However, when Rose, a Jedi master walked into
the Temple dining hall one day, Calliope's destiny changed. Rose,
following a prophecy of her own, claimed Calliope as a Padawan and had
given Calliope a second chance at being a Jedi.
Personality:
True to her physical description, Calliope is somewhat non-descript personality
wise. She is quiet and demure and often shy. She is always polite
and respectful, almost to a fault, and is timid when it comes to putting
herself forward or treading in other people's territory. She feels
a great need for guidance and approval. Inside however, she is a
strong personality waiting to find maturity. Though an average student,
she did learn a tremendous amount at the academy and is particularly adept
at things like diplomacy and strategy, though she doubts herself in these
areas. She is sweet and friendly though and has a caring nature that
will quickly reach out for anyone, especially those in need of a friend.
Objectives: Deep
down, she wants to prove that she can be the Jedi Knight no one thought
she could be. She wants to serve the Jedi Order, though not in any flamboyant
way. She simply wants to do good and particularly wants to show others
the way of the light side.
Misc: During
her training on Yavin, Calliope met up with another initiate named Rori
Firehawk. She befriended the otherwise loner and made a special bond
with her through the Force. Rori has now run away from the
academy and turned to the Dark Side. It is Calliope's desire to find her
old friend and turn her back to the light side, no matter the cost.
