The Neutral Zone

An interesting side effect of the treaty between the Empire and the New Republic is that a de facto Neutral Zone has developed in between the borders of the two major powers. This Neutral Zone is comprised of planets and systems which have succeeded in withdrawing from the Empire but has yet to determine whether or not they will join with the New Republic.

These planets and systems are a dangerous area as they're afforded the protection of neither of the major powers. And while the official word of the treaty is that these systems are free to choose to whom they go, each side has taken clandestine efforts to see that the planets choose the right group. Swaying a few more systems to one side or the other is enough to tip the balance even now and in ways no one may foresee.
