OOC On the Mailing List Rules

Effective April 11th, 2001

All OOC comments should be attached to a gaming post, with the exception of unexpected withdrawals from the game or Councilor announcements. This means, if a gamer is going out of town, he or she may indicate such within the same e-mail as the last In Character post before the absence. All other players following the SL will thus be notified; others that it does not concern will not know/need not know, and no separate post is required.

OOC: Guys, this is the last you'll hear from me in the next two weeks. I'll be soaking up the sun in FL far from a computer. I'll post ASAP when I return, for now, I give Frank control of Lyseli, take care of her for me!

BIC: Tap-tap-tap... Lyseli's foot hit the floor in rhythm. Tap-tap-tap-

"Lyseli Aurora! Would you kindly stop that obnoxious noise," Aunt Terabithia said. It was an order, not a question, though it was stated in the calmest possible tone.

Lyseli stopped, but only because it wasn't worth fighting with her aunt over whether or not she could tap her foot. But she was still fidgety, and began drumming her fingers on her thigh, protected from view by the table she sat at, and from noise by the soft folds of the dress she had been forced to wear.

They had been about to eat lunch with their grandfather, when he had gotten a strange summon from the butler. He disappeared into his office with a slightly tensed face - Lyseli could see it in the way his skin stretched over his forehead, and the tightness of his mouth. Something was not quite right here.

They had been waiting for their grandfather's return for nearly fourty-five minutes now. Even Lyseli's cousin, Konida, looked bored by now.

The swish of a door brought all three heads to the doorway, and then Grandfather - Governor Willsior Ysin Rav'ne - walked in.

Terabithia greeted her father by chastising him for keeping them so long, but seemed oblivious - or to be ignoring - the slight tenseness of him.

To Lyseli, he suddenly looked older than he ever had. The sparkle of warmth that made him endearing even as a politician was subdued, and the barest traces of a fake smile made his face wrinkle oddly about his mouth. He had always been able to encourage a smile in his face, another trait from his political background. His shoulders were straight and square as if someone had just surprised him by tapping his shoulder. Lyseli was certain that something had just happened in that conference room, and it was bad.

"Can we eat now, Grandfather?" Konida asked, looking at his stomach pitifully.

"O-f course, yes. We should all eat... must be starving."

Grandfather lowered himself into his chair, and the group played out the formalities of small talk and politeness. But throughout the meal Lyseli watched him in a conspicuous silence.

The exceptions are just for very unexpected leave-takings, such as a death in the family, illness, or grounding that prevents the gamer from posting a normal In Character SL piece. In that case, a message may be posted to the list that is clearly marked OT or OOC in the heading and which briefly states the problem and the estimated length of game withdrawal.

Hello,
I wanted to let the people in the Tatooine thread know that I will be out of action starting now for an indefinete amount of time due to family problems. I will be back in touch when I can.
-Julie

The ATTN subject tag will be reserved for the GameMasters and Councilors ONLY so they can get in touch with the players about game rulings, new rules, and share any other kind of important information.

If you need to get in touch with a specific other gamer, please mail them off the list. This means posts such as this do not belong on the list:

Hey Jill,
I am wondering what you were planning with that last post? That was really confusing! When are you going to be able to continue with that? I don't think Bob is in town right now, or else he died, should we wait for him to continue?
-Julie

This is only to Jill - hence, no one but Jill needs to see this. Yahoo has a protection system in the works to hide e-mail addresses, however, you can still e-mail an individual by clicking on their name from the member list at and filling in the form, or else go to the Database section of Yahoo and look up the person's contact info there. If you need to talk to a large group of people or get random input, invite others to use the message board on the RPG site. There is no reason for long and involved OOC conversations on the mailing list. (Besides which, if you discuss all the innuendos of your SL on the mailing list, no one will be surprised by what happens!)
