"Always there is two. A master and an apprentice."

Since we don't want anyone to feel out of place or lost, the SWC RPG has created a Padawan/Master system that pairs up inexperienced players with more knowledgable players. The purpose is to provide the Padawan with someone to whom she can go when she has a question about the world, game mechanics, or roleplaying how-tos. It also allows the Master to share her information, tips and tricks. Many new players feel shy about joining in because they don't know what's going on; by being a Padawan, they can learn and feel comfortable joining in on the fun.

On Being a Padawan Learner ...

Padawan Learners are players who are inexperienced or new to the role playing experience. They are familiar with the Star Wars movies, but may not be familiar with the other sources (books and comics books). They want to roleplay in the Star Wars universe.

Being a Padawan Learner also means working with your Master and feeling comfortable asking her questions, being an active participant in the campaigns, accepting constructive criticism, and acting according to netiquette.

On a final note, shaving your head isn't necessary, but the Padawan braid is!

On Being a Master ...

Masters are experienced roleplayers who want to help out their fellow gamers. They're more familiar with the Star Wars universe than the average fan. They've role played the Star Wars RPG and are familiar with the rules and game mechanics.

Being a Master means wanting to teach someone the ins and outs of the SW RPG. It means being patient, offering constructive criticism, answering questions, having an active role in campaigns, and acting according to netiquette.

How to Volunteer

Becoming a Padawan or Master is easy. Just join the SWC RPG Mailing List and e-mail Julie to let her know that you would like to be a Padawan Learner or a Master. If you'd like to be a Master, give a little bit of information about your previous experience.

You'll then be put on the available Padawans/Masters list. If you find someone that you'd like to work with, e-mail her! If someone finds that she'd like to work with you, she will e-mail you. You can choose to allow your e-mail address on this list, or, for privacy's sake, you can also use the SWC RPG mailing list to contact the other person.

You are under no obligation to remain with your Padawan or Master. Either one of you can decide not to do it at any time. There's no harm in discovering that your styles don't mesh and you want another partner or that you decide this isn't what you wanted to do after all.

Good luck and happy role playing!
